Back and Forth (part 1)

"As you navigate through the rest of your life, be open to collaboration. Other people and other people's ideas are often better than your own. Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them and it will change your life." - Amy Poehler

Since graduating from school and moving away from most of the design community I knew, collaboration has become a few and far between idea. I'm fortunate in having talented friends to work with like Whitney Potts, a designer and illustrator I met while we studied design. She faced a similar dilemma, wanting to create more but didn't know what and wanted someone to critique and keep her on track.

Together we started a postcard project. Each card has a theme, a single word and our depiction of it. The job of the responding illustrator is to create a piece with a theme that starts with the letter which the previous one ended.

1. Magic

I started out with a vectored illustration

3. Kaleidoscope

I responded getting to work with one of my favorite printing mediums, gold foil.

Whitney Potts' response, coincidentally with "pots"

4. Explorer

Another hand made iteration by Potts, and one of my favorites.
